I loved the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy starring Johnny Depp, Kiera Knightley and Orlando Bloom. On Stranger Tides while enjoyable was a little on the disappointing side. So when I heard that there was going to be fifth in the series, I was a little hesitant. Well we finally get our first look at Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales with a just released teaser. For it at least looks promising. So did the last one I might add.
The first teaser introduces Javier Bardem’s character Captain Salazar; a ghostly pirate captain who has escaped the Devil’s Triangle to destroy every last remaining living pirate and exact his revenge on Jack Sparrow for what we can only assume for screwing him over in some way. We do also see Australian-born-actor Brenton Thwaites, who plays a character called Henry. A character many are predicting to be the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan (Orland Bloom & Kiera Knightley).
There does seem a distinct lack of Johnny Depp’s Jack Sparrow in first teaser. This could be Disney keeping a bit of distance from the unwanted spotlight Depp’s personal life has had this year. Or maybe it’s marketing that hope to create more buzz around the character of Jack Sparrow in the lead up to the film’s 2017 release.
