1988’s Beaches starring Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey is the perfect tear jerker. I’ve lost count of how many times I have been a blubbering mess as a result of that film. It’s perfect in my eyes. However, someone at Lifetime thought it would be great idea to remake what was already perfect. When will Hollywood learn?
dropped the first trailer for their remake starring Idina Menzel as C.C and Sia Long as Hillary, and it hasn’t won a fan here! The trailer tries hard with pulling at the emotions as they try to pack glimpses of the pair’s 30-year friendship, but the end result is just those really bad sopLifetimepy telemovie vibes that Lifetime has become known for. To put it simply, I’m not impressed. If you ask me Lifetime’s attempt at remaking such a classic just stinks of pure desperation.

Now forgive me if I’m wrong, but I’m pretty sure this is going end up like a big pile of rubbish. I just feel sorry for Idina Menzel having her name linked to it. Not to mention Menzel’s versions of the songs originally sung by the great Bette Midler just seem rather forced. Actually everything about this film is forced.
It’s safe to say, I’ll be adding this to my list of things not to watch.
