It may have taken nearly ten years, but Black Widow finally gets her solo movie.

Marvel Studios has released the first teaser for Black Widow that sees Scarlett Johansson reprise the titular Marvel Cinematic character. Johansson first joined the MCU back in 2010 during Iron Man 2 playing S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Natasha Romanoff, who went on to become one of the original six team members of The Avengers.

Much to everyone’s surprise, Avengers: Endgame saw the character sacrifice herself so that Hawkeye could retrieve the Soul Stone so The Avengers could revive everyone after Thanos’ devastating snap.

Despite the character’s death, Johansson at least gets to reprise the role one more time in the character’s first solo outing. The film is said to take place two years between Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War while touching on her history as a spy and her time in the Red Room and her Russian family.

While the character may have met her demise in Endgame, there is still a colourful history to explore, and this teaser shows that.

Black Widow is released in cinemas May 1, 2020.
